| Name: Adrian Farenheits Tepes a.k.a. Alucard Gender: Male Age: Approximately 400 Lineage: Son of Dracula and Lisa "The blood that flows in my veins is cursed. 'Twould be best for this world if I were to disappear forever." Tormented by his own existence, Alucard wonders if he, the offspring of such a monster as Count Dracula, has any place in this world of man. After entering into a sleep that was meant to last for eternity, he awakens to the sense that something is amiss. Castlevania, the home of his father, has again materialized in the world of man. Alucard sets out to once more face his father and stop whatever evil is surfacing.

| Name: Richter Belmont Gender: Male Age: 24 Lineage: From the Belmont family, sworn to destroy Dracula "Mankind ill needs a savior such as you!" Descended from the famed Belmont clan, Richter wields Vampire Killer, the whip with the power to destroy Dracula, passed down from generation to generation. He has destroyed Dracula once before. When Castlevania reemerges, it is he who takes on the challenge of destroying it and its inhabitants. However, something goes wrong inside the castle, and he doesn't return as planned...

| Name: Maria Renard Gender: Female Age: 17 Lineage: Sister-in-law to Richter "So you do know how to be a gentleman." Younger sister of Annette Renard, Maria is no helpless damsel. She and Richter are all the family they each have left and are very close. When he disappears into Castlevania, she becomes worried, and journeys in to find him. Along the way, she crosses paths with Alucard. Though he is tormented and withdrawn, they gradually build up a relationship and work together to find out what is happening.

| Name: Shaft Gender: Male "This world must be cleansed in the forge of chaos." The Dark Priest Shaft enters Castlevania with the intention of resurrecting Dracula. He believes that humans spoil the earth, and that the only means of redemption is the destruction of mankind, which Dracula could bring about. He also seeks to prevent vampire hunters from disturbing the resurrection, by any means necessary...

| Name: Dracula Vlad Tepes a.k.a. Count Dracula Gender: Male Age: Approximately 800 "What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets." The infamous dark lord, Count Dracula exists to create chaos. He is not entirely devoid of human emotion, as he did love Lisa, a mortal, and had a child with her. Her death at the hands of other humans, however, served to ignite his hatred once more. Now, his only goal is the extermination of mankind.

 | Name: Lisa Gender: Female "Do not hate humans. If you cannot live with them, then at least do them no harm. For their's is already a hard lot." The embodiment of compassion, Lisa worked to heal the sick and wounded. Dracula found himself touched by her, and they fell into a love that would last forever. She loved her child unconditionally, even though he possessed his father's vampiric traits. Unfortunately, she was accused of being a witch due to her use of unfamiliar medicines, and was executed. Her final words to Alucard were of peace with mortals. |
Minor Characters

| Death "Then for the Master, I'll feast on your soul this night!" The reaper himself, Death takes form as a hovering skeleton, swathed in robes and wielding a scythe. Ever faithful to Dracula, Death expects no aid from Alucard, but insists that he must stop his foolish attack. When Alucard is not swayed, he resorts to deterrents of a more physical nature.

| Succubus "You broke free of my spell. I like that." Succubus is a shape-shifting female demon of breath-taking beauty, wanton sexuality, and immense power. She enters dreams to prey on men in their sleep. Even Alucard is not immune to this trickery, as he rests in an unfamiliar coffin...

| Master Librarian "Oh it's you, Master Alucard. What do you need?" An old acquaintance of Alucard's, the master librarian deals in knowledge and wares. Though he is at first unwilling to help one who opposes Dracula, he becomes far more responsive once money replaces words.

 | The Ferryman "I'll guide you to meet your destiny." After spotting him through a telescope, Alucard encounters the ferryman in the depths of Castlevania. He offers no advice, and needs no persuasion - he simply takes Alucard to places that he might be interested in. |
